Getting Started

Call us at (443) 798-7707, email mmauro@caapsych.com, or use the contact form on our website. New patients are currently being accepted. We will work to get you scheduled as quickly as possible.

Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Matthew will take the time to discuss your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, current medications, family history, and treatment goals. Together you will develop a personalized care plan. Plan for approximately 60 minutes for your initial appointment.

Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of current medications (with dosages), any previous psychiatric records if available, and completed new patient intake forms (which we will send you in advance). For minors, a parent or legal guardian must be present.

Yes — new patients are currently being accepted for both in-person appointments in Towson, MD and telehealth appointments throughout Maryland. Contact us to check availability and schedule your evaluation.

Insurance & Payment

We accept most major insurance plans including BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Medicaid, Medicare, and Tricare. Please call (443) 798-7707 to verify your specific coverage before your appointment.

Telehealth

Yes — secure telehealth video appointments are available for patients throughout Maryland. Virtual visits provide the same quality of care as in-person appointments, from the comfort of your home. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a private space.

After scheduling, you will receive a secure link to join your video appointment at the scheduled time. No special software is required — it works in most modern web browsers. You will meet with Matthew via video, just as you would in person. All telehealth visits are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant platform.

In most cases, yes. Prescriptions for non-controlled medications can be sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy after a telehealth visit. Controlled substance prescriptions are subject to state and federal regulations and may require specific arrangements.

Patients & Families

Absolutely. Matthew has extensive experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges. We welcome patients from early childhood through adulthood. Parents or legal guardians must be present for appointments with minors under 18.

Yes — parental involvement is encouraged and often essential, especially for younger patients. Matthew will work collaboratively with families to develop treatment plans, explain diagnoses and medications in plain language, and ensure everyone feels informed and supported throughout the process.

Yes. Mind Menders Psychiatric Care fully complies with all HIPAA privacy regulations. Your health information is protected and will not be shared without your written consent, except in specific circumstances required by law (such as imminent safety concerns).
